Caroline Lucas MP speaking on TEQs (Tradable Energy Quotas). From the launch of the All Party Parliamentary Group report into TEQs, House of Commons, 18 January 2011.
Her talk was preceded by one from Shaun Chamberlin, co-author of the report, and followed by John Hemming MP, Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group, and Jeremy Leggett, convenor of the UK Industry Taskforce on Peak Oil and Energy Security (http://peakoiltaskforce.net/ ).

Quotes from the video above:
"We need to put much more political will behind making sure that Government is examining TEQs, bringing forward proposals to introduce them, and doing it pretty fast."
"One of the things that's struck me since being elected to Westminster has been the lack of urgency around tackling climate change and peak oil. You sometimes get the sense here that we have forever to get this right. But what keeps me awake at night is the sense that this agenda is massively urgent."
"TEQs feels like a real lifeline to me... TEQs would guarantee that the UK's targeted carbon reductions are actually achieved."
"It seems to me that we desperately need new impetus behind this scheme. I want a means to wean us off fossil fuels as painlessly, as swiftly and as equitable as possibly, and that's exactly where TEQs come in."
"We urgently need the kind of bold leadership which TEQs embodies. It's more transparent, it's more accountable, it's more certain, it's more equitable (than current policies) - the only question that remains is why we aren't grasping this with a lot more energy, determination and urgency."
The usual rubbish! It's the sun. stupid!! Carbon emissions are not the drivers of Climate Change. See this very recent report...
It seems climate science may have seriously under estimated solar radiation and over estimated the effect of greenhouse gases.
