@kjsh987 Indeed, statistics were made based on surviving data.
a) soldiers killed or maimed
b) ammunition spent
the comparison shows that it was far more riskier to figh tin the 18th century than in WW I, WW II, Korea and Vietnam. With more firepower, metal cartridges and later semi-automatic and automatic assault rifles the amount of ammo fired just into the air- even from precise barrels- without hitting anyone has steadily risen.

It is the reproduction of Fort William Henry at Colonial Pemaquid State Historic site in Bristol, Maine.

The ball goes down the barrel on top of the powder. It is rammed down from the muzzle with a small piece of cloth under it to help keep it snug.
