Thanks to a magic elixir, the opera diva Emilia Marty has lived for more than 300 years. Sensing that the time has come to imbibe a fresh dose of the rejuvenating potion, she goes in search of the recipe, thereby encountering various men descendants of her past lovers who in turn wish to court her. With a troubling sense of déjà vu, she asks herself if it is really worth the trouble to continue artificially extending her life. Old wounds keep reopening until Emilias secret at last threatens to become exposed. Janaceks music embraces a broad spectrum of sound and colour, its expressivity ranging from torrid passion to inhuman coldness.
Not - not clear about this vampire interpretation - MARTY is not a Vampire ....
