it's amazing ... a few cross cuts and she gets SO MUCH speed and that height of the lutz ... she had to delay the revolution to not over rotate!

GREATEST EVER TO PUT ON SKATES. My favorite figure skater of all time and BY FAR the most talented. She got shafted in Calgary and again in 1990, but it is so glad to see people still giving her the praise she deserves. And yes, the skaters today are so blah I rarely ever watch figure skating anymore. Thank goodness for YouTube!

@Aldobrandini the triple loop was a double

@2thinkitive Indeed she is, all skaters suck now. Yuna kim is rubbish.

Are you kidding? Lysacek couldn't hold a candle to those jumps. A lot of people can't. Most Skaters can't. She's a wonderful jumper, but she lacks a little artistically. She's really a joy to watch preform.

@arsoys Many great moments, but actually Worlds 89 and 90 were better: Here, she tripped and nearly fell after her triple flip, and then she singled the triple loop. But still, phenomenal!

Some skaters have Olympic gold medals and some skaters are legends. Midori's triple axel is better than most of today's male skaters--maybe the best, period. And she did a triple-triple, too!
-
Wow, it almost looks like she could have done a quad axle! I remember at the worlds in 89, she actually over rotated the triple axle, which is mind-boggling.

@AWfan52525 I read that she tried a quad a few years before this and broke her ankle, and didn't want to risk it again. Let's face it, at the time she was SO ahead of her league anyway that a quad was totally unnecessary. No other woman at the time could even do all five triples, let alone all six.
even lysacek couldn't jump like her.

This is, I think, the very best performance by the very greatest female skater.
Worlds 89 LP and NHK 90 LP are very close, but this is it!
