The Republicans are pretty much just composed of hardcore right wingers. (And since we have a bullshit 2 party system) The Democrats are composed of EVERYONE else. So its nearly impossible to get everyone together on one issue.

Its sad to say that the libertarians, and the independents don't get a complete voice in American politics.

As far as the underwear bomber, well, we're not in yemen because of him, he bombed us because of yemen, specifically because we're killing civilians in yemen. The uncomfortable truth about terrorism is that it has come to mean any sort of resistence to american global imperialism, which includes the "neo-liberal" idea of inslaving 99% of a country's population and bulldozing them into the ground so that 1% can live like super kings. People are going to resist that.

What I don't understand is how people elected Obama without understanding how pro war he is. Remember the debates? Kucinich, Ron Paul, and Gravel were all treated like lunatics for not supporting more war. It's no surprise that Obama is continuing bush's policies, he ran on nothing but slogans and image. Basically he was the establishment candidate to distract us from the real change makers.
