@Eatmyassproductions Well I made a very safely kept save after I finally accomplished it a few years back, and I've grown accustomed to using the arrow keys for movement and D button to jump (I actually prefer it to any console controller for all the 2d games). But I'll certainly consider changing the configuration next time I loose that precious save state.

@billforigno You can set them so its on other keys. W for up S for down A for left D for right. Enter for start. 1 for A 2 for B and 3 for C. I recamend using those for emulated games.

Getting the level select code to work on the emulated version of Sonic 3 for pc was certainly no easier. @_@ (My poor arrow keys barely work now).

HA great review! This is prolly my fav sonic title. It's just a blast to play through. I remember playing it in the mall before I had my mega-drive (in Australia) and always getting stuck at that stupid barrel! My only hope was to continue playing it after someone else beat it. Oh man sonic WAS my childhood

@321cheeseman i knew what to do on the first time i saw the barrel

@linkpwnsevery1 I didn't know that until after I first played a Sonic game (can't remember which one) on Gamecube. He was a bad guy in Sonic 3 and Tripple Trouble... I even thought he was a true bad guy in Sonic & Knuckles despite being able to play as him. Still, I find it odd you can't battle him in this game, especially considering you fight Dr. Robotnik THREE TIMES in a row in the very last level.

I liked it when you were in Hydrocity, you could accidentally activate the Sonic and Knuckles mini boss theme, when playing against the Hycrocity mini boss XD
@TheNogre That barrel is easily the most notable case of extreme misdirection in a game series that is otherwise totally intuitive. I could list about 6 or 7 good reasons why there is NO REASON WHATSOEVER to think to press up or down.
The only time anyone figures out how to use that barrel is after they've been stuck for some period of time, have exhausted all options, and just start dicking around.

@bladedaawesome2 It's not poor level design. You were just too stupid to press up and down.
