Don't be worried, Tangled is a great movie. Worth watching it in the cinemas.
This film holds an overall approval rating of 93%, based on a sample of 28 reviews. (source: Rotten Tomatoes' Top Critics).
Quentin Tarantino named Tangled as one of his top five favorite films of 2010.

@ytfjordan (Just saying, for people to know):
Alan Menken is an Oscar-winner Score composer (for other Disney films);
Glen Keane is a legendary animator (Ariel, Beast, Aladdin, Tarzan);
The duet ''I See The Light'' was nominated for Best Original Song in the Golden Globe Awards.

@oopaulorafael I'm surprised you mentioned Tangled. I havent seen it yet. I wont be able to sadly.... So I will just have to get it on dvd. I also appreciate your thoughts on the movie bc I want to be ensured that it IS a good movie. I dont wanna buy a dvd, esp. Disney, and find out that the movie sucks (like the haunted mansion or home on the range *shivers*)!! <--I heard terrible thins about those two, never bought them. But since then Disney has been redeeming themselves. Anyway, thanks!
Why is it sad to see computer animation dominating the box office? You mean its sad to see those crappy films made using computer animation dominating the box office. A good story is a good story whether its told through a book, a feature film, a 2d animation or a 3d animation, its just a medium. A computer is just a pencil with a few extra features. I agree that the type of technique seen above should be carried on, but its not the medium that counts it's how you use it

kinda, but your analogy doesn't work..a 3d film isn't a 'digital representation' of something already existing - it's an entity and a story in its own right. And the whole point is to use a medium to its own strengths, ie 2d doesn't have the power 3d does when it comes to camera movement and lighting an animation, but is more effective in other areas.
It's best to accept and judge things on their own terms...this is just like the whole 'book vs film' debate...
