  • I loved it when Riker told Jellico what kind of captain he is, I agree 100%. Riker doesn't take crap from anyone.

  • I'm willing to bet if Jellico stayed in command and another offer of his own ship came for Riker, he would have taken it then, and half the crew with him. Insubordinate or not

  • This is probably one of the most intellectual discussions on all of YouTube. May I weigh in?

Jellico *is* a father with a young son. He is not a monster. And remember that he understands the Cardassian wolf pack mentality. And remember that this is not space exploration, reaching out to other civilizations. This is a time of potential war, and everything needs to be peak efficiency. And everyone must follow orders without question, if the Enterprise is to survive a possible fight.

  • i was 7 when this aired. i still want to meet aliens

  • Riker is such a jerk, he wanted to sit and pout while Picard was being tortured and the Cardassians were threatening an invasion. Captain Jellico was able to save Picard and stop the war and was even big enough to take a lot of insubordination from Riker and put his pride aside to get those things done.

  • @JSpearman4 It is a TV show yes, that does not mean that you can excuse bad writing or attack a character without knowing what you are on about.

  • @DLPBurke Ok, I'm really not going to go back and forth over a TV show but I will say this and I am done. THIS IS A TV SHOW! How did I attack a character, as you said? My statement was that Jellico got what he did because he dropped ranks. His style is authoritarian in nature, again, not opinion, this is the truth. In dropping ranks 2 the average viewer this means "speak your mind" & Will did just that. Will had a point & made it, I have no problems w/ what he said. This is TV Not the Army.

  • @JSpearman4 Given you are attacking a character, I'd think you should understand the social concepts and why the writing here showing jellico as the bad guy is really a veiled propaganda.

  • @DLPBurke

I should not have to, this is TV not the Army.

  • @JSpearman4 Evidently you have never seen how the army works. Trek writers certainly haven't.
