A Shawnee Mission North High School teacher is accused of inappropriate contact with a student using text messages.
The teacher, a 30-year-old man in the math department, allegedly sent the messages to an 18-year-old female student.
The incident came to light when the girl's mother saw the text message and alerted the school.
The cell phones have been taken as evidence.
Both police and the school are investigating.
This is the fourth time in two weeks that a metro-area school employee has been accused of sending inappropriate messages to a student, KMBC's Dan Weinbaum reported. Other incidents were reported in Warrensburg, Chilhowee and Excelsior Springs.
