Really good job you did there with the translation. I think it's awesome that international fans will be able to watch the original like this. ^^
Only a little correction: In Kitsch, 2nd stanza 1:43-1:48, he actually sings "Don't frown at me like this, don't bother to pretend that you actually care about (are interested in) the truth"

Ok I've been watching bits and pieces of this musical and really I have to applaud you for making my life this much easier. Thank you for subbing this.
Haha the guy playing Lucheni sings really well, I can totally hear the cynicism. Plus so far he's the only character that actually has my sympathy :P

@OiaHavanah Oh that's cool ! I didn't know that :-)

This song is wonderful and with your translations I could almost here them singing the english words. The words really seem to reflect the Phantom of the Opera summed into one song. Absolutely wonderful job and thank you.

good GOD how I love this musical!
I know it almost by heart, and now I can Actualy COMPLETELY understand what they're saying (I learn german but I suck at it, I would simply made up dialogues in my mind xD)
So thank you thank you thank you soooooo much for translation! I feels like I'm watching it all for the first time and again I feel the same deep love for the music and characters as I felt first time :)
Sorry for my bad english (I'm from Slovenia xD)
Vielleicht wäre 'Trash' die passendste Übersetzung für 'Kitsch'?
Maybe 'Trash' is the best translation for 'Kitsch'?

@xKl3ne Kitsch is used in English too so it doesn't need translating.
I love it when we've nicked German words hehe. Thank you though xx

You know, I think a better translation of Wenn Ich Tanzen Will is When I Want To Dance. We all know she loves to dance, and it's all up to her when, not if, she wants to dance, if you understand where I am going here. Otherwise, great job with the translation, it's really, really!, well done.

@chocobasse10 I was really torn with if or when with this one as both would work, I think. I interpreted it, eventually as her being quite supercilious which would transfer to more of an if than a when... It works both ways I guess ^^

what kitsch mean?
rayna181 1 year ago
@rayna181 Tacky or tasteless usually. It's a German loan word into English so I didn't translate it but yeah, it's tricky to define!
