@oldfart387 I think the theory behind the bouncing umbrella was that if it moved up and down fast enough, it would bring more air downward than it did bringing it back up and it might gain some sort of lift?

Didn't anyone suggest to :08 that an umbrella bouncing over such a huge motor 'might' not work? Also should have told 1:15 to rethink it? Love all of the beginning pilots who gave us modern aircraft!

@pumapreto, What a nice fantasy french people have where they always think they invented things first simply because they wish a french person did. They are are much like the chinese which simply copy everything they see and then try to take credit for it.
