Here in Italy we are at the very same stage.

Fair enough, I am just saying that "Generally", there needs to be some reason to start impeachment proceedings. So far, I have seen nothing.

Go back and read your constitution. They don't need any evidence to impeach the president- they just need the votes to do it. I think what you've confused is this article: "The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors." In which he will be REMOVED from Office on Impeachment; wherein, it would be the Senate and the Chief Justice initiating.

Nancy won't try to impeach Bush or Chenney because there is no evidence to support impeachment. The Democrats were crying "Foul" against all of Bush's policies because they had no ideas of their own (still don't). Their only hope (and it worked) of gaining seats was to repeat "Bush lied" every time they were in front of a camera. Nancy's "Party of Investigation" has already climbed up Bush's ass with a microscope and found nothing. There will be no impeachment. Bush is out in 09, move on....
