What you seem to forget is the horrible starvation and food shortage that was under Lenin's rule, he created the crisis by withholding grain and food so the people would starve, and when the crisis was at it's worst they then shared the grain wich they had miraculously gotten out of nowhere.

And the people loved him for it.
