How it looks from the cab of a train when passing by, westbound leaving Fort Mad. Note the Amtrak engineer has inadvertantly left the red marker lights illuminated on the front.
I'm sure that bump only looks that pronounced because the camera was zoomed in that far. At a regular angle you probably wouldn't have even noticed it.
Is this spot before or after the old ATSF line ducks under the old CB&Q? I love Ft. Madison - it's a pretty town, great for train watching and antique stores (-:
What a bounce! Neat to see. Likely not a bad jolt for the passengers as the Superliners have a decent, shock absorbing suspension (better than the AmCans!). Still, the Heritage Cars from Pullman Standard and Budd were sweet riding cars.
