first of all you ar supposed ti have two different variables...HOw ciuld you substitue y if you did not include y into the equation...the whole goal of substitution is to create a equation that has a coeffiecent of one....therefore WTF are you doing.....I bet you dont know....who taught you how to do mat you dog in 4:56

There are two variables in this problem: two equations and two variables. The name of the game here is substitution. Watch the entire video from the start. First we get an both equation 1 and equation 2 equal to y. That would be a = b and c = b Then the set the two right sides equal to each other ... since they both equal y. We then solve for the x. Once that x is found we go back to either one of the original equation, substitute that value for x and solve for y.
