Hey Everyone!
Here is a recording of my performance on the annual Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon! It was aired on channel 9 and there were millions of viewers! This is by far the most rewarding and exciting thing I have done so far with my poetry. It was an honor to share the experience with my brother Anthony, who is sitting next to me, as well as my cousin Tony Orlando! My mom, Susan, is sitting behind me (the one in tears at the end lol)! I would like to thank my dad, Al, for helping me get this recorded so that I could share it with you all! The introduction explains the poem! Please rate, comment, and sub if you would like! Enjoy! :)
Gravity
By N.A. D'Agostino
(8/4/10)
Look around you. Tell me, what do you see? Everything- victim of gravity.
The walls that surround you. The way they won't lift. Wrapping paper settles, when you open a gift.
Just do me a favor. Notice how your head's hung. How you don't taste the rain, 'til it drops on your tongue.
Anchored by the flavor- breathe or you'll drown! The boat of your being, will slowly sink down.
Graaaaaaavityyyyyyy. Graaaaaaavityyyyyyy. Grrrrrrrrrr. Graaaaaaavityyyyyyy.
The stu stu stutter of my lips, when I say these words. The flu flu flutter of the wings, on desperate birds.
Look in my eyes! I can feel- The weight of your stare. Abuse from the air. Soft, but still real.
With one scan of my body, you probably detect, a lack of strength. Strength you'd expect. But show some respect.
You see, it's gravity, preventing me, from being what you want to see. But don't worry, I hold the key. I'll be what I need to be.
Just because I can't make me stand, does not mean I can't take a stand, for all the things that I have planned. Call me sir. I'm in command.
Skin is just, a thin disguise. What lies within, measures size. A six pack heart. A mind that's wise. A soul that's seasoned, when baked, will rise.
This very thing that makes me crawl, is the very thing that makes us fall. For each other. For it all. The very Goliath, that makes us small.
Graaaaaaavityyyyyyy. Graaaaaaavityyyyyyy. Grrrrrrrrrr. Graaaaaaavityyyyyyy.
When you're on the end of your rope, swing, swing, swing. Then swing some more. You're on a string.
Just go down swinging. Never cease the fight. Must start slinging like David. Like a rock, with might.
The reason you can't teach an old dog new tricks, is they can't run as fly, or jump as high, to go and fetch the sticks.
Gravity makes me plead and prod, toward to skies so blue. And gravity, my mighty God, is keeping me from You.
Have You heard, each time that I pray, since my day of birth? Or does every word, just get half way, then fall back down to earth?
You are with us, deep inside, the chest cavity. Glorious, You help reside, our deep calamity. Who can be against us? Gravity.
Gravity is the enemy. Gravity's all that's stopping me. Let's turn the world upside down, and set it free, from,
Grrrrr, Gr, Gr, Grrrrrrrrrr. Gravity.
PLEASE don't forget to rate and comment! You're feedback is important to me, and your criticism (good or bad) is welcome, so that I can be exposed to new beliefs and ideas! Also, subscribe if you would like to see more. I will be posting more poems soon! Thanks again.
