"Safe" is a song Bowie recorded in the late 1990s for the Rugrats movie, although it did not appear in the actual movie. It was produced by Tony Visconti. It appears on the "Everyone Says Hi" single from Heathen. A longer version was recorded, but this is the single version.

@zoomgas Thomas Dolby did the FernGully soundtrack and used a line about "jock itch" (sung by Robin Williams), and Motorhead popped up on the Spongebob Squarepants Movie soundtrack with an original song for the film, so, stranger things have happened.

@juniperandlamplight agreed! My daughter was in love with David, when she was a younger girl. She still loves his music, but she's moved on to things more her age now, but she will always love him like I do! :-)

It's a great song, but I can see why Nickelodeon didn't use it. The uniqueness and complexity of this sound is not "safe" to try and sell to a broad family audience. I wonder if the original version was a little more pop-sounding.
