Why did Gene commit suicide having written songs as Put your hand in the hand? He has depression or something? or was it accidental? It is sad to hear geniuses always killing themselves or have actions that led to their own death.

@chordwheeler Possible it was published like that...but the comparable books I have from other artists of the time have the further verses printed after the staff. I feel everyone who plays the song is really playing an Anne cover...

@poohen223 Just a guess, but perhaps MacLellan turned "Snowbird" over to a music publisher (EMI Music Canada, possibly?) who, with MacLellan's agreement, printed the sheet music without including verse 3. The publisher's (whoever) copyrighted version would be the one used by professionals, including Murray herself. MacLellan would have received royalties not just from Murray, but from over 100 professionals who performed his song domestically and internationally, and from sheet music sales..
