Good stuff. But a few thoughts:
Coastal gorse is a native, and a dangerous one because of its being explosive fuel in the waiting. That danger just grows bigger with every year it is not defused through controlled burning. Anyone with knowledge how to control it without fire or herbicides, bring it on.

surely the local person(s) responsible for this illegal clearing will cop on to themselves ? I doubt they will be prosecuted...

Well documented Vinnie - needs little editing to send on to authorities and ask how such gorse clearing can be allowed so near housing.
