@vikings844 ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS? yes granted most of the time they burn down, but think of this! One, We dont JUST fight Fires, We do car accidents, fires, car fires, forest fires, medical calls, special rescues, and in alot of places even cut trees out of the road(if your a really unlucky Dept.). and on top of that keep in mind What is saved not what is lost, if your house burnt to the ground but your family made it out Then how big of a waste would it be?

I was an Explorer Captain for 5 years. Even if the department your with is a paid staff, your still a volunteer cause you dont get paid.

@vikings844 you cant really save the building once its engulfed in 1600 degree flames
-
@vikings844 Maybe you should ask the occupants that were coming down the ladders from the burning buildings.

@MrJakemoffitt you are really dumb...that is a old ass barn and its problay full of dry ass hay so no matter what any fire dept. in the world tryed the odds are that its going to burn down anyways... trust me my best friends barns caught fire 2 years ago. lucky for her family it was my stations drill night and they nodiced it when the fire was fairly small...i was on the second truck in and both hay barns were fully involved and it was in roughly 10 to 15 after the fire started

OMG the seccond the bepper went off i jump up and was ready to go, hahahaha

Most smaller departments are so rural that by the time the call comes inand the engine gets on scene there's too much damage to go in and try to save the building. It's not why we do it. We do it to make sure the house next door doesn't catch fire, or the woods out back leading to the house down the road. Remember that it's a waste of tax dollars when the house next door to you catches fire.

Do firemen actully save buildings, most of the time they burn to the ground, waste of tax dollars
i dont care what dept u go to. more than one rig will be rollin out that door. is it worth you or your partners life to make the first truck? at my dept, even on ambulance calls, we always roll a second squad for manpower. (keep in mind its a volunteer dept.) but either way, if u start diggin around u will find that more firefighters die each year from traffic accidents than actual fires. slow down.

exactly. i cant agree more. there was a probie on my dept that got his ass kicked to the curb after almost killing a civilian, and totalling his truck on his way to a mabas call. he WASNT even alowed on the truck to go on. SLOW DOWN. ARRIVE ALIVE.
