教我如何不想她 ─ 斯義桂 Yi-Kwei Sze (1915-1994)

大四那年去文學院修"營養"學分─音樂概論。兼任授課的蔡中文老師甫自歐洲留學歸來不久。蔡老師學養豐富、備課認真，課堂上亦不失幽默風趣。
樂理加上賞析，上蔡老師的課令人如沐春風；幾百人的大講堂，堂堂課座無虛席。斯義桂先生的聲音便是在蔡老師的課堂上聆聽到的。這種課終生受用，真是教我如何不想他！僅在天­涯的這一角默默祝福蔡老師健康、安好！

Thank you very much for posting this one! I heard Sze-Yi-Kwei sing this song in Taiwan (in 1967). Sze-Yi-Kwei was well known in the West. In 1970s(?), his recording of Brahms' Four Serious Songs won a Grammy Award; he was invited by Herbert von Karajan to sing the solo bass-baritone role in Beethoven's 9th symphony, etc. He had a versatile repertoire, and excelled in singing Chinese art songs as well. Sze-Yi-Kwei is one of the great classical music singers in the 20th century.

Thank you. Both singer and composer were active in the San Francisco Bay Area where I lived for the past 60 years. Mr. Sze performed for the San Francisco Opera. Mr. Chao taught at UC Berkeley. They were giants. I am glad there is a recording to remind us of them.
