Turkey - it has been bailed out more than a dozen times by the IMF but it is now the second-fastest growing G20 economy. As the country votes in a general election we find out how it managed the turnaround. Also, the bill for tackling AIDS - it is high and getting higher. But how are rising food and fuel prices affecting the fight? And the $25bn video games market - we will look at the battle of the brands as Nintendo tries to gain the upper hand.

  • if you look back at the past 9 years rule of Erdogan and his party. You will see how good they did their work under such difficult circumstances. - War between Russia and Georgia - The biggest financial crisis since the thirties - Greece in deep financial problems - Enduring conflict between Azerbaijan en Armenia - Cyprus conflict - Enduring sanctions and embargoes on Iran & Syria - The war about the ''WMD'' in Iraq - Several coup attempts - Trying to shutdown the AK Party
  • The economist for istanbul is wrong here. He said income redistribution. That is typical liberal socialist progressive economics under Obama. It doesn't work.

Seems knowledgeable but he talks about the wrong reason Turkey is growing.

The reasons are 1. Lowered taxes 2. Less regulation. 3. solid banks. 4 Privatizing inefficient state run companies.

All of this creates a dynamic for an efficient economy.

    Erdogan!

  • @muhammedhansrod do you know what akp has done for the peasants in turkey?

  • Aljazeera is the biggest propaganda channel .. often extremely negative about Turkey

Aljazeera is the BBC's Arabic Channel with influence of the Saudi's

  • I am highly disfavourabel of the view that liberal economic policies are universally helpful, regardless of regional socio-political circumstances. For example, Republican rhetoric in the U.S. usually favours less taxation on the richest, at the expense of the poor. Using a commonly Marxist-attributed term, I'll call that OPPRESSION. Turkey needs less regulation, true, but it also has an enormous challenge to root our poverty and develop regions like Hakkari. Peasants shouls be given oportunity

  • any country who pushes for an industrial country will prosper. turkey is an industrial and manufacturing and distributing economy. thats how you grow. even in a computer game its like this. its easy. but it takes a good political man to push their country to produce.

  • @Ibringthetruth1 Well, the economy policies of Erdogan are not as capitalist as you may think of. For example, Turkey has an almost universal health care system where the bill is paid by the government. Government is excessively involved in home construction business, they built around 500,000 houses in the last 8 years and that's huge! Government intervention is not always good or bad, it depends on how it intervenes. In Turkey it decreases the health care costs, in US it skyrockets.

  • Thnx for uploading. The haters makes the fuel we need to be more effective in the righteous deeds :)
