He developed one of the most recognizable piano styles in popular music, and in so doing Floyd became arguably the most popular session pianist in recorded history. His piano was integral in the success of many of Elvis Presley's recordings beginning with "Heartbreak Hotel", but he played with many artists including Patsy Cline, Jim Reeves, and Brenda Lee whose recording of "I Want To Be Wanted" ironically was the only song that kept Floyd's "Last Date" from the #1 spot on the charts in October of 1960.
