Akban headmaster, Yossi Sheriff, http://www.akban.org/about/sheriff.php shows practical under hook. One method of using Ganseki (underhook) in sparring.

In AKBAN we train the way we like, completely absorbing ourselves in Ninjutsu while fearlessly researching. We don't care about politics, political values, belt systems or Mc-dojos -- what matters to us is dojo time, heart and earth, that's it: One principle, two words: "No shortcuts"

  • @Jigoroxxxkano I don't think ura nage is easy here. I think the opponent should try for Harai goshi

  • @ninjalla yeah^^ i would go for an ura nage if i was uke

  • @Jigoroxxxkano Right, by rotating and pulling your opponent he will be busy with his balance thereby minimizing evasion.

Still, care must be taken to ensure he will not turn the position into a sacrifice throw (Yoko Sutemi).

  • How do i prevent from his hand going over my shoulder?

Only with brute force against it? or maybe just rotate to the left?

  • @Aztecalt1997 Nothing works 100/%. Depending on the opponent you create a strategy. But yes it is not easy to underhook a wrestler

  • Nice explanation and breakdown.
