Hello on this Monday, September 24, 2007. I'm Kristin Volk with a UPI top news headline.

Columbia University is denying requests to cancel a forum with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and its students and faculty. Ahmadinejad is scheduled to speak at the university today. Some are protesting the President's appearance, questioning how a leader with suspected terrorist ties should be allowed to talk at one of the nation's premiere universities. School officials responded saying it's not giving Ahmadinejad a platform but rather a classroom so that students can learn about diplomatic and international affairs.

The Florida Democratic Party says it's sticking to a plan of holding its presidential primary on January 29. That's even though the national party has ruled that the move will strip them of their delegates and the top candidates have pledged not to campaign there. Officials say they're sticking with the date to ensure largest possible turnout and to avoid accusations of disenfranchisement from Democrats still bitter about the 2000 recount.

Meanwhile, Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton says she won't vote for any more money to support the four-year-old war in Iraq without a plan to start bringing U.S. troops home. Her declaration comes as the Senate debates the Defense Department's 2008 spending authorization bill. Clinton says if elected president, she would end the conflict as quickly and responsibly as she could but says some forces would likely remain as trainers to protect Americans and to battle Islamic militants associated with Al-Qaeda.

The United Auto Workers union has set a strike deadline today for its 73 thousand members at General Motors, but talks between the union and the company are still going. The union has kept its members on the job at the automaker on an hour-by-hour contract extension since the previous pact with GM expired more than a week ago. The company said in a statement that it's still hopeful of reaching a deal to avoid a shutdown.

  • The world's most hated nation is the USA because it's the world's number one terrorist country. Illegally invading foreign nations on false pretenses, stealing the natural resources of other nations and committing genocide against the Iraqi people. I'm not a huge fan of Ahmadinejad but at least his country hasn't illegally invaded another country and committed genocide like USA/Israel. Americans need to get off their high horse and stop the warmongering and genocide.

  • Well its not only "him" alone saying that, there our lot of ppl, scientists, politicians whom believe that it occured, BUT that it wasnt as much as they say it was, some believe that 6 million jews died in world war 2 there wouldnt be 7million isralians in their country and it didnt consist so many jews in all europe back then. Some reports made by red cross from 1947 showed that it only was 300.000 dead bodies confirmed

  • Go Ahmadinejad, down with zionism!

  • by the way, the whole thing about bringing Ahmadinejad to Columbia and bashing him in front of the students was CU president Bollinger's CHEAP SELF-PROPAGANDA. Pretty bad second-class acting.

  • THE DEVILS GREATEST WEAPON IS RELIGION. IT DEVIDES US AND TURNS GROUPS INTO TROOPS AND THEN WE KILL EACHOTHER. it's been going on for thousands of years and won't stop until religion no longer exists. This is the problem with all organized religion. People blindly follow some rediculous view point of some jack ass born thousands of years ago.

  • Well that book isnt showing a islamic regime, its mostly showing what the western world will look like, In london they have looooadz of cameras there, controlling every street, CIA is capable of tracking phones way up here in sweden. • Ahmadinejad :

Women are the best creatures created by God. They represent the kindness, the beauty that God instills in them.

I guess an american woman will never hear something like that in San-Fransisco... LOL
