I had never heard of Annette henshaw until I started listening to this radio program thast played songs from the 20's and early 30s. Since then She has become one of My favorites. Now with YouTube Tou can see and hear just about anyone. There is another singer that noone seems to know anything about who was around at the same time as Annette. Her name is Mildred Hunt and You should listen to Her singing Honey.

Annette Hanshaw did her first "Betty Boop voice" recording in 1927. Helen Kane did not record her first record until 1928. Who was copying whom? Didn't matter-Helen and Annette were good friends in real life in New York. Helen encouraged Annette to make more "baby voice" recordings in '28 saying Annette could do a better Betty Boop, but Annette did them so well, Victor Company-Helen's "employer" to which she was under exclusive contract-sued Helen-thinking she had jumped labels to Columbia.

House of a Thousand Corpses gave this song a brand new spin. Not sure whether that's a good thing or not...
She does not sound to me as Hanshaw. I have to think at Helen Kane.

First time I hear it, I also think at Helen. But it was definitely Annette.

I believe you, but I believe also my ears. Nice tune and great accompagnement.

Look at (only) Annette's (and not) Helen's 'You wouldn't fool me'.
Sometimes we can't trust ourself.
