Nagoshi-no-oharae ／ Tosen-jinja Shrine, Kobe （有馬・湯泉神社／夏越の大祓）

"Nagoshi-no-oharae" is a summer purification ceremony of the Shinto. This ceremony is held on June 30th at many Shinto shrines in Japan. While worshippers pass through a giant grass wreath, they pray that their mind and body are purified, and receive special protection from summer illnesses.
