You should have gone with 6 inch venting which allows you to pull fresh air from outside! Much better for you negative pressure stove!! Will run a lot better and you will have less problems with it burning, especially if you live in a newer house!

thats pretty sweet i guess

You should have painted the stove pipe black with some high temp paint so it matches the stove !! It will look alot better !

Go to Home Depot for a free ceramic tile class. Installing tile is a lot easier than I thought it would be.

I put a tile pad in the corner of my livingroom for my stove. Go to Home Depot when they offer a free tile class. I have the stove angled from the corner and the tiles run parallel to the front and sides of the stove. It would have been easier to just tile a triangular corner area with the tiles aligned with the walls, but it looks good the way I have it. Because I saw how easy it is to put tile in I tiled my whole kitchen and the hall and foyer.

What size pellet stove did you get? How many square feet? The hearth you got at Home Depot, was it a tile or something else?
I am looking at getting one for my place but questioned if I needed to spend $300 for a tile hearth.
How much dose it cost to run per month in the coldest months?

I use 1 1/2 to 2 bags per day in the coldest months in Michigan. So the cost depends on the cost of the pellets.

I'm going to put a pellet stove in myself. The pad underneath your stove did it come with it? Did adding the pipe up and out add to the heating ? Thanks!!!

I bought the pad at Home Depot, marked down 50%.
The pipe gets VERY hot, so yes. It also insures a very good draft for the stove

hi. if we was to have a 2 story house.. and built the pellet stove down stairs.. would you think the would reach upstairs..?

That is what we did in our house. Put in a wall fan, since ours is a split level home and a door fan that blows warm air into our stairway. Now heats the whole home.
