  • Double C at seventy? Anyone with a negative comment can just suck it. Period. Maynard is Maynard. And you're not.

  • Being a trumpet player myself, I look up to and listen to some of the greats (Gillespie, Sandoval, Miles), but Maynard is solely unique to me in what he played. Sure, anyone can squeal that high. Of course, I mean range is something most people work on anyway. But, how many players could scream with the tone, precision and dead on intonation that Maynard did? I'm sure someone can name a couple, but how many could do it into their 70s? I say, Ferguson is one of the greatest to ever live. RIP

  • @Eskew you are dead on right there, I am trying to work on the way that Sandoval played it, I can already play it down an octave but now I just need to reach the upper octave

  • @Eskew42 very well said!

  • I love Maynard forever. Not only for his unique playing style, but for his enjoying the music and his human feeling. If God really exist, Maynard is near him. RIP

  • @MonkeymanBalloons Look nobody's trying to bust your balls,ok! If you've got something to say about another musician's talent or lack of then you need to put up or shut up! No if and's or but's! Maynard earned the right to play any damn way he can! I've played for over twenty years and I'm good, but I'm no Maynard. Least not yet. So show a litte respect. By the way music is about love and respect and those that don't know that are not musicians. I wish you all the best in your music.

  • @kcoddur Gee, I really wish I could, except I don't feel like traveling half way across the country to some show you do. And no where in that comment did I say that I was better than him. All I'm saying is that he shouldn't be doing proffessional shows if he can't play proffessionally. Especially in a song important such as this one.

  • @MonkeymanBalloons Are you for real! Don't hate. Right now your best couldn't come close to his worst. I play every monday night at the"Hat Factory" in Richmond,Va. come on out lets see what you got. 9:00pm

  • Holy crap. He needs to tune and control his vibrato. If he can't play good when he's old, then he should set down the trumpet.

  • does anyone know why maynard lip trilled so much when he got old? i enjoyed his playing more when he was younger but hes still awesome no matter what

  • @Lchsmb2009 dont be embarrassed, be proud =)

  • @Lchsmb2009 I'm embarrassed for trumpet players as a whole that you are one of us!!!
