http://www.DrRossPerry.com.au with bird vet Dr Ross Perry brings you a bird health care video on how to prepare a wet faecal smear for microscopic examination using a coverslip and a microscope slide. Dr Ross Perry demonstrates a technique for separating the cylindrical coiled dark intestinal part of the dropping from the white urates (renal part). He then adds a little saline or distilled water to a small portion of the faeces and prepares a thin even smear under the cover slip that is suitable for microscopic examination for worm eggs, coccidia, megabacteria etc.
