There are a lot of very stupid comments on this thread. Alas, this is not a very good quality vid (but historically interesting - thanks whoever posted it...) and it might mislead the ignorant. Tempest was never a covers band, I think this was the only cover they did. Alas the music industry is a fickle place. Many people, especially on youtube, seem to think famous = best. This band is a really good example of how some of the very best in their league can still, alas, remain relatively obscure.

I heard them playing that live 3 times; at The Reading Pop Festival, at Reading University Student Union and at The Marquee in London.
Believe you me it was quite an unforgettable experience; Ollie is the best guitarist I have ever seen on stage -and I saw many!

He sounds like Paul.

was linked to this through Patto vids.Pretty amazing;spot on vocals and musicianship....Alas,all of the great bands and musicians who never got their due recognition.....

how i love this band!! two days ago i've been playing with my band at a festival along with Colosseum. Mr. Clark is stills amazing, a voice like an angel, a bass playing like a devil! Thanks guys for all you've done.

Ironic that Ollie Halsall did a Beatle song and then parodied The Beatles with The Rutles.
-
Yeah this is kind of jive by hearing the album over the live footage.

Ciao, ragazzi. Ho 54 anni vivo a Roma...Io a quel concerto c'ero!!!!! Se non sbaglio era il 1972 e si tenne al Brancaccio. Mitica davvero la versione di P.W. sentita dal vivo.

Yeah! The famous white Gibson SG custom!

Yes. It's available on the Tempest anthology CD 'Under The Blossom'. See the Ollie Halsall Archive site i.e 'olliehalsall' [all one word] plus the usual UK suffix [this is all rather silly but I think YT blocks urls. I'm sure you can work it out] :o)

Though it's not documented there's a good chance Halsall's playing style had an influence on Holdsworth. He was really the only player utilizing that technique before it become popular with anybody.

Allan has acknowledged Ollie's influence on a number of occassions e.g. go to Satriani\Holdsworth interview on GTR Web Forum [this won't let me include address - Google > GTR Web Forum Holdsworth - contact me if you can't find it]
