I pulled a star out of my hair last night
Tied it to some string and lay back in the light
I'm so wasted, So wasted, So wasted
I stood on a dream, Broke under my shoe
It must have been there for days, it faded to a sorrowful blue
Lighting the candles and diming the light
Take up a pen and hold it to the night sky
And draw a smile
And as that smile looked down on me
The moon had rose to his feet
Glancing over the landscape, what can he see?
A mother and daughter holding hands
A father and son making amends
As he stands their smiling down
The smile i drew became a frown
But the moon stood there quietly over the town
Smiling down
Lighting the candles and diming the lights
Take up a lantern and hold it to the night sky
And hail the moon
The frown i drew is gone
Lighting the candles and diming the lights
Take up a lantern and hold it to the night sky
And hail the moon
