"One of my favourite Sonic tracks, period. This track, from the Master System/Game Gear incarnation of Sonic 1, comes from one of the original levels of said game, Bridge Zone.

This version of Sonic 1 was actually my first Sonic game (and first game in general, if you don't count Alex Kidd, which was built into the Master System itself), and as such holds a great deal of nostalgia for me.

The upbeat theme perfectly suits a stage which expects you to traverse perilous bridges, cross chasms using strange spring-like platforms, and even experience one of the few (if not only) auto-scrolling Sonic levels.

In regards to the more modern Sonic games, you may reconise the tune as the opening sting of Tails theme in SA1 (Believe in Myself). Also, if you compare it to a certain Janet Jackson song, there's also similarites.

Those Jacksons, eh? They certainly love their Sonic music."

Gawd, you just smacked me on the head with 'you may recognize the tune as the opening sting to Tails theme in SA1'.

I thought I heard 'Believe in Myself' somewhere before, but never made the connection till today.
