Graham Winkle the author of Loch Mey Monster takes us on a walk with his children from Ham to Scarfskerry [The most northerly village on the UK Mainland.

Finding ancient Cairns, Brochs and a Chapel sharing his knowledge of the area and suggesting possibilities about them. Did a meteorite hit Scarfskerry? Did the 11 century battle of Raudabjorg take place here? How many Broch's are there here?

  • As you so rightly comment it has a church and in Great Britain, a hamlet earned the right to be called a village when it built a church..Historically, villages were a usual form of community for societies that practise subsistence agriculture. Although I notice Wikipedia describes it as a settlement and a village..

  • Scarfskerry can hardly be called a 'village'. The only public amenity is the Baptist church; there is no shop, no pub, no school. A scattered settlement OK but not a village.
