Excerpt from ABC's Media Watch ( http://www.abc.net.au/mediawatch ) on Tuesday the 26th of February, with added Anonymous editorial.
All in all a good and commendable report, but needed to be called upon about the omission of Lisa McPherson.
UPDATE: 06th September 08, After several attempts to gain comment on the story, there has been no response from the ABC about this subject and they have moderated out any attempt to bring this issue to light on their message board forums. Conclusion? Until the ABC OFFICIALLY comment about this otherwise, I see no reason to believe that the ABC aren't (a little) scared of Scientology.
Also, some idiot tried to take this video down with a DMCA request, and did... for a day. Take that Oliver Schaper and your phony company!
Text of Anonymous section:
Hold on a minute there Jonathan! I believe you forgot another photo!
It was not just tom cruise whom received preferential treatment from News corporation. They also removed another name, an arguably more important name than Tom cruise.
Let's go back to that doctored picture from The Advertiser.
Enhance.
It looks like there is a Name missing here. A sign with just the word google off centre makes no sense. What should it have said?
Back to the real picture from The Advertisers website. ( http://tinyurl.com/29y8ro - located on www.adelaidenow.com.au )
Enhance.
Lisa McPherson. A young lady who died under Scientologys care; or rather lack of. That's what people should google. This is disrespectful.
Why didn't you mention this, Media Watch? Anonymous understands that time is tight in your format, but this undermines your credibility. saying just the word "Names" in the plural sense was not good enough.
Perhaps you were just following auntie's legal advice.
Care to discuss it?
You can continue now Jonathan.
I'm in the States and perhaps that's why I haven't seen Media Watch before. They seem to have done a partially good job, but it's hard to tell if the story is about Anon/Co$, or if it's an editorial about general censorship and media legal policies: using Anonymous' protests as an example. Any news showing Anonymous doing good work is good news though - so WIN!

Media watch is a show in which does editorials about the australian media and their screw ups. but this documents that, AND a screw up that they have made. If you would like to see the show, please visit their website (it's in the about).

You should send a letter and a link to this video to Media Watch. They are usually pretty transparent and make addendums about stuff they've missed/ got wrong.
IMO 'The Advertiser' erasing Lisa McPherson's name from the sign is a more significant example of soft journalism than removing Tom Cruise's name. It is bad enough that the CoS goes to great lengths to suppress and whitewash this particularly nasty part of their history, it's worse when mainstream media is complicit in this.

I have sent them a tip email including a link to this video.
I agree, The complicity is appalling with Newscorp, but not surprising unfortunately, but Media Watch obviously knew about it by their use of the word "names".
I think I will also contact the advertiser with this.

The second card, on the right, originally said "Google Lisa McPherson".
