In the context of building an "about page" a content type with its fields and stuff gets a lot less abstract and one could plug in here tools for people that might want to dig deeper. If you know what you build that thing for you might get your head round the concepts much quicker.
Ach, only 500 characters and posting my answers in the wrong order :( hope it still makes sense.
And, there is a nice place to plug in the more intricate details like content types: When you know you are in the context of making an about page, a content type is much less abstract and you are geared towards what it should do for you. This is something that can help people get their heads around all those fields and stuff - for they get to what it can do for them.
Generally, building your little site as a scaffolding in half an hour is approaching the rapid site building tools web hosters are offering in their hosting packages. And this is great, because this is made for _really_ non-technical people, but people who have seen a website before.
Having this would really set Drupal ahead of the compediton.
Watching this I find out I did not understand it at all last time :). What I like is you can give the user different ways of looking at the same site structure. Some people may like the list view better, some may like the graphical page tree more.
And yes, some of the adventurous might look at the Library view and dive in deeper. So an order of rising complexity from left to right may make sense.
