From "Love Light", here's the beautiful "Evening Star" by keyboardist Yutaka Yokokura. Other guest on the album include Dave Grusin (production), Osamu Kitijama (koto), and Patti Austin (vocals) to name a few.

Sampled later for Twista's "Ain't On Sh*t" and 7L & Esoteric, J-Live, Count Bass D's "Rules of Engagement".

Enjoy!

  • J Dilla - I'm So Glad Your Dorothy!!! i've been looking for this sample for a looong time

  • It's so annoying that material like this is sat somewhere in a backroom on tape degrading by the day, collecting dust when it could be out on a cd or download making thousands of fans happy and providing some income for all concerned. Reminds me of the scene in Time machine when he picks up those books and they crumble, this is what quality music has been reduced to. I don't buy many cds but stuff like this gets me spending money. What is it with this friggin' world?

  • Excellent stuff from the tail end of the "rare groove" era.

  • ALCHEMISTTTTT

  • Where is Yutaka?

  • ohh man,soooo good!!!

  • This original is the best...damn do yall hear those instruments!? amazing

  • I haven't heard this in years!!!! I have the album, which I bought around 1981 or '82, in my spare bedroom collecting dust along side dozens of vinyl treasures just like this from the early 80's.:(

However, I refuse to get rid of them . . .

  • I've always LOVED that beat that the Alchemist made but I never knew it was from this song. Its soo beautiful I love this

  • This is one of the songs I listen to most on YouTube. I found it years ago and I still can't get enough! Thank you so much for uploading, hope it stays up.

  • @maccagrabme But isn't it great to discover those Rarities and search for them untill you finaly got a copy? This is of course only avaible on vinyl as far as i know. But hey...it's the better medium anyway. ;)

  • The real King is Yutaka Yokokura. Jay Dee was of course a brilliant beat maker but this stands way above. Smooth, mysterious, transcendental. Deep Stuff.
