The 73rd edition of Pitti Bimbo closed at the Fortezza da Basso launching signs of optimism and confidence in children's fashion for future seasons. The final attendance figures showed that the fair was visited by just under 7,000 buyers, with a total of over 11 thousand visitors traveling to the Fortezza da Basso. The number of foreign buyers grew (+ 2.5%, bringing the total to more than 2,600 buyers), whilst the Italian buyers (over 4,300) basically confirmed the figures recorded at the last summer edition.

With regard to the foreign markets, there were excellent performances from Russia (+ 30%), the United Kingdom (+ 12.6%), and Turkey (+ 42.5%). The number of buyers from Brazil doubled and there were substantial increases from China -- which is increasingly becoming an important market for children's fashion as well - Portugal, Canada and the former Soviet Union markets. The most important European markets confirmed their buyer attendance figures, as did Japan and the United States.

The top 17 foreign countries were once again led by Spain (297 buyers), followed by Russia (261), Germany (212), France (152), Belgium (146), the United Kingdom (134), Turkey (114), Greece (113), Holland (113), the Ukraine (68), Brazil (63), China (57), Japan (56), Switzerland (55), Portugal (51), the United States (50) and South Korea (46).

"Pitti Bimbo basically confirmed the results that emerged during Pitti Uomo", says Raffaello Napoleone, CEO of Pitti Immagine. "There was an atmosphere of great energy and optimism. Considerable appreciation was expressed for the 530 collections displayed, the new ideas presented by our exhibitors as well as the quality of the top buyers attending: over the three days of the event, representatives from all the most important international shops and department stores visited Florence. As we all know, at a time like this, it is foreign sales that drive the recovery process, as clearly confirmed by the growth in attendance figures recorded at Pitti Bimbo. The Italian market continues to be more reflective as the long-running reorganization of the system of sales outlets progresses for children's fashions as well".

There was a high level of public attendance and plenty of press attention -- with more than 500 accredited journalists -- for the many events scheduled during the fair, including over 15 catwalk shows and special presentations that played to audiences of nearly 5,000 buyers, journalists and members of the trade, as well as the succession of events at the Fortezza and in the various venues around town. We should mention, in particular, the high level of participation in the charity event organized by The Heart of The Children Onlus, in Palazzo Corsini, on the eve of the opening of Pitti Bimbo, which was attended by over 800 guests.
