A short film filled with memories of the Dutch peregrine falcon family. Many thanks to Planet Internet and KPN for providing the free live streaming video.

  • We see Mom taking care of the chicks from the beginning (when she is in labor laying the second egg) through 1:23 in the film. Off-camera she fights the intruder (S2) and then disappears (probably mortally wounded). After 1:23 we see Dad caring for the chicks by himself. S2, perhaps thinking the prey is a courting gift from Dad, keeps stealing the food. The smallest chick dies of hunger. Finally, S2 learns to feed and brood the chicks. They thrive and eventually fledge.

  • this is just way to beautiful! I watched all the vids, beautifully done, I loved it!

  • Utterly, perfectly, touchingly gorgeous.

  • Thanks Beans.

  • Wonderful video Beans. Was that S2 who entered the nestbox at 19 sec. and left at 37 sec? That e-chupping sound is so familiar. Thanks for all your videos.

  • Love that final view of the two of them flying off together. Thank you for all of these.

  • Beautifully done Beans. A sweet memory of dear little Beansy
