Brooke Greenberg is an 18-year-old woman who has an undiagnosed condition that has caused her to stop growing - and aging.  In fact, at the age of 18, Brooke Greenberg is "the size of an infant, with the mental capacity of a toddler."

Greenberg's story is the subject of a TLC special called ''Child Frozen in Time.''  The special first aired in 2009, but it has been shown numerous times since - most recently on January 19, 2011.  The documentary features Brooke Greenberg, her family and the large team of medical professionals that are trying to treat her and decipher what has caused her mysterious condition. 

Greenberg's doctor, pediatrician Lawrence Pakula of the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, told ABC News while there are "documented cases of children who fail to grow or develop in some way," Greenberg's case "may be unique."  Pakula says that "many of the best-known names in medicine...had not seen anyone who matched up to Brooke."

Brooke Greenberg was born on January 8, 1993, in Reisterstown, Maryland.  She has three other sisters, and all are "of normal size and development."  Brooke's mother, Melanie Greenberg, says her daughter was born premature and with a rare hip-dislocation condition.  In her early years, Brooke endured multiple surgeries for perforated stomach ulcers.  When she was just four years old, she was diagnosed with a brain tumor.  Melanie Greenberg says she and her husband, Howard, were preparing to bury their child at that point.  They, and the doctors, were astonished when tests found "there was no tumor."

Today, Brooke Greenberg lives with her parents in Maryland.  Her life has been documented by ABC News, Dateline NBC and, now, TLC.  She cannot speak, though she "clearly recognizes people around her" and she "laughs when she's happy."

@cass3477 They ruled out any tumors, systs, etc.. They did mri's cat scans and everything on her.

wow... 18 yrs old and still a baby. i wonder if her body will still deteriorate at the same rate or if she'll have an extremely long life span ?

perhaps there was a tumor or clotting and the sac had broke releasing fluids rich in the proteins that effected her brain. this is not an impossibility.

@00Atem00 Well, it's kinda complicated to explain... but it's just that I'm not really growing up like other people are... and I look younger than my chronological age and I feel younger.. and my brain works as if I was younger... so... weird :) and complicated... :/ :)

Brooke is really special! :) But she's not really a woman is she? Isn't a woman someone who is developed and mature and grownup?:/ Brooke is just a little baby. It could give people a wrong idea about her to call her a "woman"... Brooke's brain is like brain of a little baby so she is a little baby. At least that's what I think cause I'm kinda like her in some way :)
