This is my new LGB Forney,

Except it has an electronic issue that I can't fix.
Hopefully someone might know what to do.

The black thing I put on the track is a special magnet that is suppost to sound the whistle or bell as it passes over it.
But mine doesn't seem to respond.

If you hear music in the background that's my mum's music playing on the family stereo.

  • Don't you have a dealer who has, cause I think that the decoder they put in, is programmed on only digital, instead of digital and analog.

  • @maatwerk1

No local dealers seem to support digital control.

I bought the loco 2nd hand from overseas as it was cheap.

  • Maybe you have to chanche the settings from parallel to serial

  • @maatwerk1

Sadly, I don't have a digital controller to play with the DCC settings.

  • I could send you parts diagrams for the engine to help try and make a repair yourself , or If you want you could send the train to me for repair and im sure i could fix this issue. Even if lgb does not make the part a reed switch is very common and easy to come by. I have references availble apon request also. Im here trying to keep these lgb trains running even know lgb is out of buisness. Good luck Kyle

  • Thanks, but postage from Australia to USA is a little expensive for me at the moment.

I bough it secondhand/Ebay from Sweden, big mistake I know.

The original owner sent me a parts list and instructions of the upgrades he had done to it.

A Decoder was installed and the original electronic circuitry was dumped.

(But it does have it's original sound unit still)

As I said, because this engine is complex, and I do mean complexed, I'm to scared to pull it apart. (I'm a cowards yes)

  • Some decoders react on a double pulse, you can try it by putting two magnets behind eachother on your track

  • Try to get a need read switch in the engine for the whistle and bell, they are easy to replace.

  • thant is sooooooooooooooooooo cool

  • I have the same engine and it is my personal favorite. These forneys are as reliable as an old time watch, they just keeping going and never die.
