Here's Johnny in 1962 singing a Ricky Nelson hit song. Nelson's version hit #7 on Billboard in 1958. From CD.

  • Funny, as I was listening to this I was thinking that Johnny had attended to the Dean Martin school of singing. as noted by TheGJMan1's comment. But I believe as a teen vocalist Johnny was highly underrated and did a great job with this Baker Knight written classic. But I'll take the Jordanaires as background vocalists any day.

  • @TheGJMan1 Agreed. The kid had nice tonality and a great warble, sort of a high tenor tremulo that plays with a lyric ala Dean Martin. The background singers kind of ruin it at the end with an odd discordant close, but Johnny did a sold job of this Nelson hit.
