when i used to go out long netting , many years ago we were all ways taught to fill all the rabbit burrow holes in, not digging them out but to fill them in.
in that way when we returned a few weeks later the holes that were open were the best and only ones the ferret needed. it also made it easier when we started a new area as some of the holes were very old and we could then help stop farm animals getting injuried
