You know, I got requests for this? No really.
I stated in my Master System video that the Game Gear version really knocks the difficulty down a whole five or so notches. This video shows it. Specific notes below.

Green Hill:
Lulwut. Castlevania Bloodlines Water Magican, eat your heart out. This is the easiest boss fight of all time, without a doubt. I wish they'd just given him SOME sort of starting attack. At least in the Master System version he lives long enough to actually do something.

Bridge Zone:
Not only are the pits removed in this battle, but the terrain actually helps out a whole lot. Specifically - it's glitchy as all hell and Sonic can get stuck on it. This can be used to your advantage, as shown in the video. This went from being a fairly challenging boss fight to.. well, this.

Jungle Zone:
The reduced screen size has made this originally nightmare boss fight into a walkover. Robotnik doesn't usually get to use more than one bomb in any given fight this time round.

Labyrinth Zone:
The only boss fight with a challenge to it, again, the reduced screen size makes it possible to now hit Robotnik in the middle of the arena and make it back to the platform. Of course, you can only do this if you hit the very side of his machine, otherwise his bullets will hit you.
You can hit him five times during his missile attack with ease, just be sure to be standing to the left of his machine, otherwise you'll get a face full of missile.

Scrap Brain:
What boss? The maze takes the bosses' place here. I don't know why there are rings, as there is exactly one trap in the entire level. The 1up is pointless, as grabbing it will cause you to have to start the level over from the beginning again. I point out via annotation where you deviate from the path to get it.
Protip: It's right at the end of the level.

Sky Base:
Master System version: "ARRGGGH."
Game Gear version: "THAT was the final boss?"
Aside from requiring a bit of memorization as to where the flames pop out, this thing... wow. I know the original fight was hard but man, Robotnik really let his machine design go to pot here.

It should be noted, whilst the game is fairly easy for the most part, Scrap Brain Act 2 and Sky Base Act 1 can both go suck a dick. Those levels are annoying.

Personal News:
Hey, you know that injury that affected me last year? Yeah. That's flared up.

Long story short, most of my fingers are numb and the rest of my hand and my wrists are absolutely killing me. It is nearly impossible for me to do much of anything computer wise. I gave this video a shot, because the Sonic series is relatively simple to play. Basically don't expect much of anything for a while.
I'm waiting to see if alternative treatment will work, but I may have to have surgery.

Hopefully things will clear up because I am bored out of my skull, if nothing else.

  • Your annotation is false. After you jump over the spikes before the Green Hill boss, the second area has an Extra Life there.

Also, I HATE that Jungle boss! Dr. Eggman always kills me with his cannonballs.

And the Labyrinth boss is hard, too.

  • @xHEDGEHOGMAN1x Memory playing tricks on me it seems. The annotation has been corrected.

  • 1. Does the first Robotnik do ANYTHING?

    2. Why didn't Sonic drown in the underwater part?

  • @molemanninethousand 1) If you wait long enough, he tries to ram you. It takes a long time for him to do this.

    2) Apparently he talked to Guybrush Threepwood inbetween Act 2 and 3.

  • Cool sonic loved playing the genesis games maybe i should play this one as well

  • @03flare15star1990 Play the Master System version over the GG one if you can. It's overall a slightly better game.

  • THEGA!!

  • Does the Green Hill Zone boss even DO anything?

  • this game was actually harder. the 3rd boss was more difficult since u risk hitting a cannonball.

  • ..........that was the game..

  • The bridge zone boss I always have trouble with since i dont know when to jump and sometimes when i try to jump i somehow lose all momentum but because of this video he is easy now.

  • The final boss a wall of glass

  • @molemanninethousand This game was originally made for the sega mega system, a game console. Because of the higher resolution, Sonic couldn't reach Eggman when he was flying around high, he could only attack when he tries to ram him.

However, it was ported to the Game Gear later and they had to shrink the play field in order to fit on a Game Gear screen. Since they couldn't shrink Sonic as well, they were forced to make this the easiest boss fight in sonic history.

  • the first boss in the gamegear is so much faster than the master system
