yeah :P being adapted to the climate of scandinavia and the way of living, it was only natural that the vikings would take the highest place on the food chain. From beginning until "end" of the viking era, it was always the adaptability of the vikings (scandinavian people) that kept them on top, and when the time came for change, they simply adapted a new way. Simply saying they vanished is a load of crap, they just centered around trade instead.

Uhhh, Greenland was settled by Indians before the Icelanders settles there (NOT Norwegians - idiots). And settling is not colonization. There was no King or crown in Iceland and Erik the red was bound as an outlaw by common law of the people; so technically he ran to Greenland...Just as many of the Icelanders 'ran' from Harald of Norway's tyranny (the very reason they saw no need for a King in Iceland).

@Ralleq1 Vikings from Norway did not raid? Five of the most famous cities of Ireland were raided, then founded by Norwegian vikings, including Dublin and Limerick. Ask any Irish historian; He might have something to say about that. Or the Scots. Read some Sagas my friend. Besides, when you say 'Viking' you are saying 'raider' or 'raiding' as a verb. Otherwise, just say Norwegian.

@BattleHideout Canute the great did also won the battle the norwegian king, Olav Haraldson. Do some research. Cause this is just embarrasing.

@BattleHideout It is a fact? Are saying that danish vikings did not raid? How would you explain Danelaw in England, how would explain the fact that Denmark ruled England for 30 years? How would you explain the huge amount of vikingships thats has been found in Denmark? Denmark is the country where there as been found most evidence from the viking age. Read about history dude ;)

@Ralleq1 its funny. because your just trying to protect the others from a bad name (and have you ever learned anything of this?)
-
@BattleHideout Haha. The viking from norway did not even raid. They most likely explored a lot, such as Iceland and greenland. The real warriors came from Denmark and Sweden. Denmark went to the west, and Sweden went to east, and Norway went north. You do know that denmark ruled england during the viking age?
Thats how we created the welfare in scandinavia :p
