Ys is the most beautiful album I've ever heard
-
oh desire...
I don't think I've ever been this touched by a song. Her writing is outstanding.

This near perfect creature (half woman & half rushy brook spirit type). I can see how if you weren't really taken her this would be 10 mins of endurance, but for anyone who knows anything about music & writing & self-expression & art & performance this is all just pure Sunday gravy

to tears..every time.

I think Ys may well be the album of the century. beautiful beautiful beautiful :'(

I love the crickets!
-
she is the (initial) reason i took it up :)
-
actually, she only discovered the tale of Ys after she'd written and recorded all the songs - prior to doing so, she claims to have known nothing of it.
i suppose It just happened to be an astonishing coincidence that her songs covered so many aspects of the tale
-
its totally different, they are both amazing!

My favourite tracks would have to be on her other album, things like "Casseopia", "Sadie" and my personal favourite, "Peach, Plum, Pear"
The songs themselves aren't all that special, it's the way she sings them that I love most.

Really? I thought this was an even better album I loved how each track built up ie monkey and bear and only skin. the inclusion of the drums ect..
each to there own I suppose :-) what are some of your favourite tracks then do you prefer when its quite sparse

It's about Ys (hence the album name). It you look up the tale, it's about a princess named Dahut who kills men and feeds them to the ocean in order for her city to prosper. In the end, she is tricked by the devil and her father throws her in the sea (I'm summarizing)
I think the dove is supposed to be Ys and Dahut is the narrator of the song.
Brilliant! Just wondering if you filmed any more from this show?
