This is real Latin cooking. You'll love this recipe of "platanos al Caldero". Make sure you use ripe black plantains.

  • Thank you for making this video. When I buy these plantains prepared they are so delicious and so expensive. I tried to cook them once in the oven but they did not come-out as I was hoping. I can't wait to try these. I like your manner in the kitchen. But I am not clear on the time of cooking - fry til brown and then cook for how long in boiling (right) water? Solo soy gringo - necesito detalles!

    Please make more videos.

  • @jared1099 Hi, you'll fry them until brown and then simmer until the water thickens (becomes a syrup). I am not sure which plantains you buy already prepared, but I think the ones you buy are probably just fried, which is also delicious. Just cut them more diagonally so they are not that thick and cook inside. This recipe has spices which gives it another touch. Hope this helps. Thanks for your comments.

  • looks sooo good do you buy them black or do they jus turn black

  • @shesobreezy You can buy them ripe (yellow) and wait a few days until they start to have black spots. You don't have to wait until they are completely black to prepare this recipe, Happy holidays!

  • I love my moms cooking but i wish you were my aunt or something :P where have you been all my life cause that luks so good! thanks for recipe

sidenote how much oil and what kind of oil would you use? and howlong are you keeping the platanos cooking for?

  • @obnoxiousways Thanks for the compliment! You don't need a lot of oil, because you just want to brown the plantains. They will actually cook in the water. I would say you want to cover 1/3 of the plantains' sides. About the cooking time, around 2 to 3 minutes per side or until you see a brown edge on the bottom. Let me know how the recipe comes out. • are you a chef?

  • you dont need the syrup she made, the plantains are already plenty sweet on their own..

  • In fact , searching two days in internet i did not find how to cook plantains dessert. only freaking crap

  • CRAP !! It is not how to get sweet plantain dessert

  • I love plantains this style, I had them first at a cuban restaurant and have never figured out the glaze, but with your video I should have it now, thank you very much. And indeed, very sexy lady in the kitchen!! Not sure which I love more, the accent or the curves!

  • A word of advice:

You shouldn't use non-Anodized aluminum pots for cooking. You get the a large dose of aluminum in the food, and that much is actually harmful. Look it up. No joke.

You should use Anodized aluminum, copper, or stainless steel pots for cooking food. It might sound like nit-picking, but it's not.

  • @bersaidavega Thx have a good holiday
