The guillotine choke is a highly successful submission and you need to have the ability to take away the leverage of the choke when caught in it. This is a standard escape. Remember to place a lot of pressure on the neck of your opponent while staking.

  • This wouldn't work if the guy applying the guillotine knows what their doing. U can't just pull out of the guard, they'll extend to put pressure on the choke. Love most your videos tho!

  • @preacherboy88 Nothing works 100% of the time...of course! But I should point out that Keith Owen, Prof Sauer and about a 1000 other black belt teachers teach this at the blue belt level. Food for thought ;-)

  • not bad but if that choke as well as the guard is on tight, it's not always easy to pass guard.

  • before u do this you're going to fall asleep from his choke. It happened to me!

  • @ftrkngfspn Not if your opponent is in a speedo.

  • i'm new to BJJ... but in no gi... can you pull the pants like you're doing?

  • 'I literally would have to be dead for him to roll me'

  • @preacherboy88 Thats what the arm behind the back prevents either in the guard or standing.

  • Let me start by thanking you. Submissions101 has some of the best grappling videos on youtube. I have a question though: do you find this escape to be effective when you have an arm trapped in the guillotine? While the choke is usually not as effective, I find it difficult to utilize this escape or variations of it without the pressure on their neck. Do you have another technique you'd suggest, or perhaps some tips on making this one work? Thanks again.

  • @Puertoricanpimp502 Panic escaping is an art. and I am def. one that has pursued that art...not by choice ofcourse haha!

  • If the guy who is applying the guillotine is very strong and experienced it would be almost impossible to create opening. I would prefer not to find my self in this position

  • at 2:20 doesen't that neutrilize your base and won't it be easier for him to sweep you?
