Atheism isnt an "invention" Atheists arent a cohesive group with specific objectives/goals. The only thing atheists have in common with each other is that they require evidence before accepting something is real. atheism is as old as humanity itself. it def has been around as long as religion. There used to be thousands of religions and every1 was an atheist as they didn't believe in the other religions. If you're a christian you're also an atheist as you don't believe in hindu gods etc etc.

Good reply, but there is a slight error. The only thing that all atheists have in common is that they don't believe in god. Not that they require evidence, because that is a skeptic attribute. My friend is an atheist by her parents and has no idea how evidence works.

No it's not. -ism requires a doctrine. Christians, Communists & Nazis have a common doctrine. Furthermore they themselves say they have a positively asserted doctrinal belief.

Atheists have responded to a question. Do you believe in god? It's one word, "No."

Just because a word exists with a definition, it doesn't mean that it's applicable or even true. I'm pretty sure 'telepathy' has a well understood definition, but i defy you to show that it's demonstrable or descriptive of any situation.

Isn't that like saying there is no Christianity, just Christians? How about no communism, just communists? Oh, heres one, no Nazism, only Nazis?

Please, if your going to come on here trying to poke holes into my argument, bring something to the table that doesn't sound stupid. Atheism is a word, and it has a definition. Sorry my friend, but I think that is the evidence enough it exists.

I must say this is not very logical or rational.

    Now good day.

There is no such thing as athe"ism" only atheists. All that means is that, for whatever reason (or no reason at all), they don't believe in god(s). Any other conclusions beyond that is the decentralized choice & identity of the individual who also happens to not believe in god(s). Relabeling the descriptive noun, 'atheist' as an -ism is like asking someone if they believe in blue apples and then conflating their inevitable response to mean that they follow a-blueapple-ism.

I never once considered myself religious-- not once during my heavy Roman Catholic upbringing. I distinctly remember being four years old and rolling my eyes during Mass because of the sheer ridiculousness of the Bible passage being read. When I actually sat down and read the entire Bible when I was 10, I knew right then and there that I would give up organized religion entirely. I suppose I'm more agnostic than atheist-- you can't prove or disprove anything-- but organized religion is idiocy.

But how long? The developed world is a fragile thing and all it takes is for a major accident to suddenly bring it all down, and when the people are starved of everything else, what will they turn to? If you have studied history, than you should know that all golden ages end, all empires die. What is popular and rises now will not forever rule. If Christianity(And religion) is a indication, how do you know that Atheism itself will last in the developed world?

Your still going on about this? I had mostly forgotten you. Atheism is a invention of man, just as much as religion is. Philosophy, technology, ideology, religion, all of this is man made.. Do you think nature differentiates atheism and religion? When nature destroys all, it spares neither faith nor intelligence.

What is Atheism but the popular thing to go with, like Christianity 1000 years ago, or better yet, how do you know it will not be replaced by something else? Now, good day.
