i love this film,it is so well done and dana andrews is great in it.love the start of the film when you first see the demon at night coming from the woods and the sound it's making is just really creepy.

If you want to see another film with Niall MacGinnis (who plays Karswell in this great film), I highly recommend watching the truly excellent 1953 film "Martin Luther."

@VonWenk I saw this movie at a drive-in theater with my family when I was a kid and it scared the begeebers out of me. I think seeing it out doors on a big screen made it even scarier.
I used to get the heebee geebees walking at night after seeing it.50 yrs later I couldnt remember the name of it but finally found it on Neflix.The original English title was Night of the Demon.
The Director fought the producer to not show the Demon's face, which looks wooden and diminishes its firery approach.

Well said & well put! I totally agree. Sad that the producters insisted on showing the demon! Dana Andrews character often seems pompous & self-satisfied..and indeed arrogant. THANKS for your thoughtful & insightful comments! CHEERS! :-)
